GUIDELINES FOR ASCLS-PA CONTINUING EDUCATION
ASSISTANCESHIP

 

PURPOSE: The Assistanceship Award is to assist members of ASCLS-PA financially in their pursuit of Continuing Education in the discipline of Clinical Laboratory Science for the purpose of maintaining or upgrading their present position in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences.

ELIGIBILITY: This award is considered a membership benefit, and therefore requires proof of continued membership for eligibility: anyone who has been a member of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) and the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science-Pennsylvania (ASCLS-PA) for at least two (2) years immediately prior to the time of application, who presents an acceptable reason for desiring to attend a workshop, seminar, college course or other approved program designed for continuing education in the field of Clinical Laboratory Science.

AMOUNT OF THE AWARDS: Each member of ASCLS-PA can apply for multiple assistanceships each year, and receive up to a total of $150 per year through this program.

APPLICATION: Each applicant must submit a complete application form which includes: name, address, place of employment (or last place of employment), position, the program applied for, sponsoring agency for the program, date, tuition, and a statement of the reason for desiring to attend.

DEADLINE: No deadline; applications will be accepted throughout the fiscal year.

PAYMENT OF THE AWARD:  Payment of the award shall be made directly from the ASCLS-PA Treasurer to the awardee prior to the beginning of the course if time permits. The awardee must submit to the society proof of successful completion of the course within two weeks of the stated end of the course. This may be in the form of a photocopy of the certificate, transcript or grade report or a signed statement from the instructor of the course.  If proof of successful completion is not received, the awardee should return the funds or future awards will be denied.
