This committee is composed of three ASCLS-PA members with the Chair appointed by the President.  This committee shall be to assist members of ASCLS-PA in their pursuit of continuing education in the field of Clinical Laboratory Science for the purpose of maintaining or upgrading their present position.

DUTIES:

1.      Appoint two members of ASCLS-PA to serve on the committee.  It is preferable that these persons be knowledgeable in clinical laboratory science education and continuing education.

2.      Receive all correspondence concerning the committee.

3.      Administer the Continuing Education Assistanceship Awards and any other scholarship given by the Society.  (i.e.:  Mercedes Cole Undergraduate Scholarship, Edward P. Dolbey Graduate Scholarship, and Sandra Keener Continuing Education Scholarships.)

4.      Send out applications and guidelines as requested.

5.      Receive completed applications.

6.      Contact membership Chair to ascertain membership eligibility of the applicant.

7.      Forward copies of the completed applications to the other committee members for their evaluation and recommendations.

8.      Upon receipt of the recommendations, submit an authorization for payment of scholarship grant to the ASCLS-PA Treasurer for those applications approved.  For applications not approved, notify the applicant stating the reason(s) approval was not given.

9.      Keep financial record concerning all Continuing Education Assistanceships and scholarships paid.

10.  Send a report of committee activities to the President at least one month prior to the Board of Directors meetings.
