GOVERNMENT LIAISON (FEDERAL)

BYLAWS AND SOCIETY REGULATIONS:
This committee shall be composed of three members.  The Chair will be appointed by the President and serve a term of three years.  Each chapter will appoint one member to serve a term of one year.

Area of activity will be federal legislation and federal regulations.

DUTIES:

1. Monitoring pending legislation in Washington, D.C. that pertains to laboratories or laboratory personnel.
2. Maintain a key contact network and activate that network when important issues are to be responded to.
3. Educate members about the federal government and keep them informed of current issues through a regular column in the Pennsylvania Newsletter.
4. Maintain an updated roster of federal legislators and their addresses.
5. Work with corresponding committees of ASCLS and district societies.
6. Send a report of committee activities to the President at least one month prior to the Board of Directors Meeting.
7. Maintain close contact with the Board of Directors liaison individual.
