BYLAWS AND SOCIETY REGULATIONS:

The President-elect shall become familiar with the duties of the office of President while in office.  In the event of a vacancy in the office of President, the President-elect shall become the President.

Shall be elected for a term of one year & except in the event of a vacancy in the office of President, shall serve for one year then automatically succeed to the office of President.

In the absence of the President, the President-elect shall serve as Chair of the Board of Directors and shall preside at the annual meeting.

DUTIES:

1. Serve on the Regional Council of the ASCLS:

A. The President-elect who holds the office on January 1, shall serve when the President’s Council functions as a part of the ASCLS House of Delegates.

B. The President-elect who holds office on January 1, shall serve on the President’s Council of ASCLS when it meets in annual assembly, after the ASCLS House of Delegates.

2. Become familiar with the activities of the various committees, including the Convention Committee, particularly for the meeting of the following year.

3. Study the Bylaws, reports of past meetings, Robert’s Rules of Order, etc.

4. Aid the President, and if the President is absent, perform the duties with the same authority as the President.

5. Beginning in April, select the Chairs and/or members of committees as designated by the Bylaws or Society regulations, House of Delegates or Board of Directors for the year of presidency which starts on July 1, and make appointments on July 1.

6. Shall perform any duties which the President assigns to the President-elect.

7. Shall perform the duties of an associate editor of the official publication as outlined by the duties of an associate editor.

8. Shall act as Leadership Development Committee Chair.

9. Shall act as Planning and Scope Committee Chair.
